Surah Maryam · Ayah 23

makki

فَأَجَآءَهَا ٱلْمَخَاضُ إِلَىٰ جِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَٰلَيْتَنِى مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَٰذَا وَكُنتُ نَسْيًا مَّنسِيًّا

And the pangs of childbirth drove her unto the trunk of the palm-tree. She said: Oh, would that I had died ere this and had become a thing of naught, forgotten!

Pickthall

And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree: She cried (in her anguish): "Ah! would that I had died before this! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!"

Yusuf Ali

And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."

Sahih International

প্রসব বেদনা তাঁকে এক খেজুর বৃক্ষ-মূলে আশ্রয় নিতে বাধ্য করল। তিনি বললেনঃ হায়, আমি যদি কোনরূপে এর পূর্বে মরে যেতাম এবং মানুষের স্মৃতি থেকে বিলুপ্ত হয়ে, যেতাম!
