Surah Al-Maidah · Ayah 52

“And thou seest those in whose heart is a disease race toward them, saying: We fear lest a change of fortune befall us. And it may happen that Allah will vouchsafe (unto thee) the victory, or a commandment from His presence. Then will they repent them of their secret thoughts.”

“Those in whose hearts is a disease - thou seest how eagerly they run about amongst them, saying: "We do fear lest a change of fortune bring us disaster." Ah! perhaps Allah will give (thee) victory, or a decision according to His will. Then will they repent of the thoughts which they secretly harboured in their hearts.”

“So you see those in whose hearts is disease hastening into [association with] them, saying, "We are afraid a misfortune may strike us." But perhaps Allah will bring conquest or a decision from Him, and they will become, over what they have been concealing within themselves, regretful.”

“বস্তুতঃ যাদের অন্তরে রোগ রয়েছে, তাদেরকে আপনি দেখবেন, দৌড়ে গিয়ে তাদেরই মধ্যে প্রবেশ করে। তারা বলেঃ আমরা আশঙ্কা করি, পাছে না আমরা কোন দুর্ঘটনায় পতিত হই। অতএব, সেদিন দুরে নয়, যেদিন আল্লাহ তা’আলা বিজয় প্রকাশ করবেন অথবা নিজের পক্ষ থেকে কোন নির্দেশ দেবেন-ফলে তারা স্বীয় গোপন মনোভাবের জন্যে অনুতপ্ত হবে।”

“تو جن لوگوں کے دلوں میں (نفاق کا) مرض ہے تم ان کو دیکھو گے کہ ان میں دوڑ دوڑ کے ملے جاتے ہیں کہتے ہیں کہ ہمیں خوف ہے کہ کہیں ہم پر زمانے کی گردش نہ آجائے سو قریب ہے کہ خدا فتح بھیجے یا اپنے ہاں سے کوئی اور امر (نازل فرمائے) پھر یہ اپنے دل کی باتوں پر جو چھپایا کرتے تھے پشیمان ہو کر رہ جائیں گے”
